Former First Team midfielder Nathan Watt will return to Asheville City Soccer Club (ACSC) as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming USL2 season.

Originally from Newcastle, England, Watt remained a pillar on ACSC's Men's Team from 2018-2021 as the fan favorite made Asheville his home.

"Having spent three amazing seasons playing in front of the South Slope Blues, I'm excited to be helping the Club in a different role this Summer. I can't wait for chapter four with the Blues and being back at Memorial Stadium. There is no club I'd rather be a part of!" - Nathan Watt.

Watt was a Youth Scholar at Gateshead FC before moving to the United States in 2014, where he played Division II soccer with Lees McRae College. Since graduating from LMC, Watt played semi-professionally in Australia before returning to North Carolina.

Watt joins a fresh Men's Team coaching staff led by Head Coach Scott Wells with fellow assistants Stuart Jacobs and Dean Johnson

"Nathan knows what it means to play and represent the club. He understands the fans' passion and ultimately will have a fantastic relationship with our players." - ACSC Head Coach Scott Wells.

"Nathan has been an integral part of Asheville City the past three seasons. His character and values represent everything this club stands for.  We know that his leadership and experience on the field will easily transition to the sideline for the 2022 season." - ACSC Chairman/GM Jimmy Wheeler.

Founded in 2016, ACSC was created as a way to help local players pursue their dreams and grow the game while using soccer as a way to give back to the community.

Asheville City’s Women’s and Men’s Teams will return to play in the Summer of 2022 at Asheville's historical Memorial Stadium. For more information about the upcoming season visit www.ashevillecitysc.com and follow the Blues on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
