Asheville, We Love You!
On behalf of all of us at Asheville City Soccer Club we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you for a magnificent season of soccer in Asheville. The first season for the women’s side not only included a fiercely talented team of players but extended beyond the field to include new friendships, inspiration for new songs from The South Slope Blues and the strengthening of our soccer community in Asheville.
Meghann, Lydia and I offer our deepest appreciation for all that we achieved this summer. It has been our mission for the past 10 years to bring quality women’s soccer back to Asheville at the semi-professional level. Because of you, our fans and community, we exceeded our expectations and have solidified a new path for the women’s game that will only continue to grow and excel in this community.
This year’s players connected to this community because of your outpouring of support and willingness to engage beyond our wildest dreams. You sang songs, painted your face, wore the jewelry, endured the driving rain, knew the players by name, took to the field after the matches, and together, we painted Asheville blue! Every player on our roster has expressed interest in returning to play for Asheville City next summer. They know there is nowhere better to play the greatest game than in Asheville, NC. You made that so.
On behalf of the Asheville City women’s coaching staff and Asheville City owners group, we offer a huge shout-out of gratitude. We have already begun planning for our return in spring 2019.
