The Women in Blue traveled down to Birmingham and took care of business, scoring a 2-0 win over the Legion to move within 5 points of clinching the South Central Division title.
The Blues got things kicked off early when Yuliia Khrystiuk placed a nice feed to Lucia Flores who found the back of the net to put the Blues up 1-0 in the 7th minute.
In the 38th minute, Birmingham was inches away from equalizing as a corner kick hit a player and was sent hurtling towards goal but Rachel Logue was there to head it away from the goalline and keep Asheville in front.
Two minutes later the Blues almost found a second on a corner of their own when it found the head of Gry Boe Thrysoe who smashed her attempt off of the crossbar. The Blues mustered a pair of shots on goal in the dying embers of the half but the Legion keeper kept them both out of the net and Asheville City went into the break up one.
In the second half, chances were harder to come by as Birmingham tried to work a way back into the game while the Blues tried to fend them off.
The first bit of notable action did not come until the 73rd minute, when Lucia Flores came extremely close to finding her second of the night but her shot went narrowly wide.
However, two minutes later the Blues doubled their lead. Khrystiuk sent a wonderstrike towards goal that beat the Birmingham keeper and put Asheville up 2-0 where the scoreline finished.
Lucia Flores was awarded the Noble Cider Player of the Match award for her efforts in the match which included a goal.
