The Asheville City Women’s team welcomed Tennessee SC to Greenwood Field in a top-of-the-table clash in the Southern Conference’s South Central Division. The Blues emerged victorious in dominant fashion, defeating Tennessee 6-1. While the first half was a closely-tested affair with both sides creating chances, the Blues used a second half offensive outburst to pull away.
Things got started quickly for the Blues, as Emma Sheehan scored in the 14th minute off a beautiful assist from the outside of the foot of Caitlin Conroy.
Just eight minutes later, Lucie Bertrand cleaned up a botched clearance by a TSC defender and found the back of the net for Asheville’s second goal, making it 2-0.
Tennessee, determined not to go down without a fight, responded in the 32nd minute courtesy of a beautiful finish from Miki Hayashi to cut the deficit to 2-1. The score remained unchanged heading into halftime.
During halftime, Madhu Schmid was recognized as the 2025 Meghann Burke WNC Soccer Pollinator Award winner for her contributions to the soccer community. Stacey Enos lead the crowd in a cheer and Madhu's fellow fans met her at midfield for the celebration.

Asheville came out of the break firing on all cylinders and got themselves some breathing room on the scoreboard.
Just three minutes into the second half, Lucia Flores met a corner kick delivered by Yulia Khystiuk on the corner of the six-yard box at the near post and poked the ball past the TSC keeper, extending the lead to 3-1.
Ten minutes later, Asheville struck again as Gry Boe Thrysoe capitalized off of the keeper bobbling a Khrystiuk free kick delivery, punching the rebound home to put the Blues up 4-1.
In the 66th minute, a Blue was dragged down in the box earning a penalty kick for Asheville City. Phoebe Hollin stepped up to the penalty spot and smashed it into the upper right corner to push the Blues lead to 5–1.

In the 80th minute, Khrystiuk was able to add a goal to her three assists as she capitalized off of another Tennessee defensive mistake and slammed it home, capping off a dominant 6–1 victory for the Blues.
Rachel Logue was awarded the Noble Cider Player of the Match award for her efforts in the match.
With this victory, the Blues now sit at the top of the table as the number one seed in the South Central Division of the Southern Conference, earning a solid 13 points in 5 matches while boasting an undefeated 4-0-1 record.
The Women now head on the road for three games starting off in Atlanta against Southern Soccer Academy before returning home on June 15th to take on Chattanooga. The Men of Asheville City return to Greenwood Field on June 4th when they host Southern Soccer Academy. You can buy your tickets here.
