The Men of Asheville City ended with a draw on the road on June 6th at East Atlanta, using a late goal to earn their 7th point in 3 games on the road.

East Atlanta struck first in the opening half–or so they thought–but their goal was called back after the fact for offsides.

However, in the 2nd half the Dutch Lions would find the opener courtesy of an own goal by the Blues.

Things were looking dire for Asheville, as multiple scoring opportunities went by the wayside, until they finally found the equalizer in the 90th minute. Alexis Ledoux and Quenzi Huerman were instrumental in the buildup leading to the goal and Bissafi Dotte found the back of the net in his return from injury to grab the Blues a vital point on the road.

“I wasn’t expecting that honestly, I played like 30 minutes,” said Dotte. “I came back from a 7-month injury and I scored my first goal for Asheville so it feels great, but it would’ve felt better with a win.”

“It was his first game back for a long time but he was in the right place at the right time,” said Head Coach Scott Wells. “Credit to Alexis Ledoux and Quenzi (Huerman) who came off the bench and were big impact guys for us and got us back into the game. And when you look back at the end of the season, those are the points you will look back on and be thankful that you got.”

“I think we are really happy with 7 points in three games, but ultimately very disappointed that we didn’t come away with the three points.”

Up next for the Men, a home match with massive table implications on June 6th against Southern Soccer Academy to open up a three-game homestand.

For the Women, a trip to Greensboro is on the cards as they face off against the NC Fusion on June 6th.
