The Blues will open the 2023 season on a new pitch with a renewed surge of excitement for fans.

Asheville City SC will compete in at least 13 home matches across both the women’s and men’s seasons at Greenwood Field at UNC-Asheville.

“We feel this is the best schedule our club has ever had, not only in terms of player rest and recovery but from a competitive standpoint,” said Jimmy Wheeler, ACSC. “UNC Asheville has been great to work with in crafting the schedule for the summer and we look forward to returning to Greenwood Field. We’re excited to make a playoff push on both the women’s and men’s side!”

Women’s Team

On the women’s side, ACSC is excited to welcome coach Billy Lesesne for the 2023 USL W League season.

“There is great excitement with the release of the summer USL-W schedule.  There is now a competitive balance with six home and six away matches against league opponents.  We look forward to our home matches on the campus of UNC-Asheville's Greenwood Field and making the most of the opportunities to represent ACSC and the Asheville soccer community.” ~ coach Billy Lesesne.

The Women open at home on Saturday, May 13 against NC Fusion and wrap up the regular season at home on July 1 against Wake FC.  June 10 against Greenville will be the club’s 5th annual Pride Night event.

Men’s Team

On the men’s side, the Blues welcome in East Atlanta the following weekend on Saturday, May 20, to kick-off the season.

“Everything went to plan with our preparation for this summer's schedule. The gap in June allows us to periodize our guys a whole lot better, making it a priority to go back to their colleges fresh and ready for the Fall.” ~ coach Scott Wells.

Coach Wells led the Blues in 2022 to their first USL League Two postseason, making it to the Sweet Sixteen before ending the season with a 10-5-1 record.

Founded in 2016, ACSC was created as a way to help local players pursue their dreams and grow the game while using soccer as a way to give back to the community.

Asheville City Soccer men and women’s teams will return to the pitch in the summer of 2023 at Greenwood Fields on the UNCA campus.
