Blues Head to Florida for Opening Rounds of USL League Two Playoffs

The Asheville City men’s team will travel to the Sunshine State for the opening rounds of the USL League Two Playoffs, starting on July 22.

Out of the 38 teams in the Southern Conference, the top eight clubs are separated into two pods based upon seeding. The Blues have been given the #6 seed, the highest out of all division runner-ups.

ACSC's pod is hosted by The Villages SC, runner-ups of Southeast Division. There, the Blues will open the pod against Bryson, Texas' Brazos Valley Cavalry FC. Kickoff against the third seeded Cavalry is set for 4:00 on Friday, July 22.

The winner of that match will take on the winner between #7 The Villages SC and South Atlantic Division champions #2 NC Fusion. The Villages play host to the Fusion in the match following the Blues' tilt against the Cavalry.

The other side of the Southern Conference bracket will take place in Knoxville. There, the conference's top seed Nona FC will take on #8 West Virginia United squad that played their way into the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.

#4 One Knoxville will face #5 Texas United for the right to play the winner of the Nona FC and West Virginia United match.

The winner of each pod will advance to the league quarterfinals the following weekend.

The tournament is single elimination playoffs will see the Blues tested right from the onset. #3 Brazos Valley finished the regular 10-2-1 and champions of the Lone Star Division.

The Cavalry are lead by Winthrop University forward Ethan Stevenson, who paces the whole league with 18 goals.
