Asheville City’s men’s team will face One Knoxville SC on Tuesday in what will be a matchup with massive stakes.

First, this game is the second of two games apart of the Smoky Mountain Series. The series will see the two clubs vying for bragging rights and a trophy in a competition based around the two regular season matchups. Win/loss record will determine the winner. If necessary, aggregate goals and away goals will determine the winner, respectively.

More importantly, the winner will cement themselves atop South Central Division standings, paving the way for a spot in playoffs.

“I’m looking forward to the fans and the support we’re going to have,” West Virginia junior Ryan Baer said.

Baer has been a leader for the squad this season serving as team captain and starting in every game he has played this season.

The night will begin with a women’s game against the Charlotte Independence with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff. Then the men’s team will face Knoxville beginning at 7:30 p.m.

One Knoxville SC is 7-1-1 this season with their only loss being against Asheville City. Since their matchup with ACSC Knoxville has made a name for themselves as a top division contender.

Knoxville’s top goal scorer is Norwegian forward Sebastian Andreassen who has scored six goals this season. Andreassen has played his college career at both Young Harris College and the University of Central Arkansas.

The Asheville City men’s team is currently undefeated with a 7-0-2 record. Their wins have been a team effort with multiple players scoring more than one goal already this season.

Kemy Amiche leads the pack with six goals and Luca Erhardt has three this season. Newcoming Kameron Lacey has already scored two goals.

“Big time players turn up in the big time games. Big time teams relish the opportunity to play in the big time games. There is no bigger game so far this season than Tuesday. The boys know it and are locked in and ready for the battle,” head coach Scott Wells said.

ACSC will love to see our dedicated fans for this huge double header matchup, as both teams thrive with fan support.

Next up for the men’s team will be another home game on Friday, June 19 against the Tri-Cities Otters.
