Asheville City traveled to Peachtree City, GA on Saturday and earned the biggest win in men's program history, a 6-0 win against Peachtree City MOBA.

Asheville City Soccer Club began the match dominating the field and executing the build-up play. The starting 11 had some notable changes including Will Watson starting at goalkeeper and Asheville, NC local Aidan O’Brien making a start.

“We had good performances from a few different guys. Guys who came in from the bench gave us really strong performances. We couldn’t have asked for much more from the guys who came in,” assistant coach Joe Barber said.

In the 14th minute the Blues began to play with 10 men as Clay Obara left the field to deal with an injury.

Despite being a man down, the Blues scored their first goal of the night in the 16th minute. In a multi-dimensional play, Quenzi Huerman passed to Josiah Blanton who passed to Kemy Amiche who finally scored. Not long after, Clay Obara re-entered bringing the total back to eleven men on the pitch.

Continuing with the build-up play the Blues scored again in the 39th minute giving the team a 2-0 lead. This time the goal was scored by Quenzi Huerman with an assist from Kemy Amiche.

After half-time, midfielder Oskar Lenz entered the game for James Madison University senior Clay Obara.

In the 51st minute, Conor Behan left the game due to injury, with Asheville native Lorenz Hoover entering. In the 60th minute, Lucas Gonzalez entered for Quenzi Huerman and Bachir Ndiaye entered for Makel Rasheed.

In an unbelievable triumph, Kemy Amiche scored his third goal of the game in the 70th minute.

“Today Kemy scored three, he was in the right place at the right time. He definitely had a man of the match performance tonight,” Barber said.

In the 71st minute the team made its final changes of the evening. Caden Lawrence entered for Bissafi Dotte and Kameron Lacey entered for Kemy Amiche. This is Lacey’s ACSC debut.

Although already up 4-0, the Blues did not stop there. In the 82nd minute Luca Erhardt scored on a penalty kick. Then, in the 87th minute Oskar Lenz scored from an incredible angle.

At full time the score was 6-0 making this game the largest margin of victory for the men’s side in ACSC history. The men’s team is the only undefeated team in the conference and sits atop league standings.

“It was a pleasing result and we hope to continue our good form. We came out strong in the first half. We came straight out the gate the second half and finished the game up fairly quickly,” Barber said.

Next up for the men’s team is a home game on Monday, June 6 against South Georgia Tormenta FC. Kick off will be at 7:30 p.m.
