Asheville City Soccer Club’s men’s team will travel to Knoxville on May 14 for the inaugural Smoky Mountain Series against One Knoxville SC. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Smoky Mountain Series will see the two clubs vying for bragging rights and a trophy in a competition based around the two regular season matchups. Win/loss record will determine the winner. If necessary, aggregate goals and away goals will determine the winner, respectively.

This will be the first regular season match for both teams, and the first ever for One Knoxville SC. The club is led by head coach Mark McKeever, last year's USL L2 coach of the year.

“Mark McKeever is a legend in his own right and a USL National Championship coach. We will expect the war of all wars and as a coach and player, there is nothing more exciting than that,” head coach Scott Wells said.

The Blues return to action after a Friday night friendly against the NC Fusion that ended in a 1-1 draw. Ethan Dekel scored the lone goal of the evening for Asheville, allowing the game to end in a draw.

This week the team has been working hard at practice and establishing their identity, according to Wells.

“The team’s attitude has been first class all week, the energy and attention to detail has been thrilling to coach, we have worked hard on our identity all week and will be ready come game day,” Wells said.

Both ACSC teams will compete in a double-header home opener on Friday, May 20. The men’s team will face the Dalton Red Wolves at 5 p.m. Immediately following, the women’s team will face the NC Fusion at 7:30 p.m. for their inaugural USL W League match.
