The Blues are coming home. After withdrawing from the 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Asheville City traveled across town to play their 2021 season at Greenwood Field on the campus of UNC Asheville. Now, a year later, with some much needed improvements having been made, the Blues return downtown to Memorial Stadium for their 5th season.

Improvements to the stadium include new sidewalks, new stormwater infrastructure, and, most importantly, new artificial turf with improved drainage. The 100-year-old facility has had modest improvements over time, with the most recent turf renovation completed in 2000. Completed in 1925 to act as a regional athletic and special event facility, the stadium’s brick arch entrance, east stand, and World War II memorial remain. The stadium played host to City’s first three seasons during which national attendance records have been set and maintained.

"Memorial Stadium is a special place” said Jimmy Wheeler, ACSC Chairman and General Manager. “Our players and visiting players alike have raved about the atmosphere and total experience of playing under the lights at Memorial. Over the last five years we’ve witnessed a close knit community come together at our games in a celebration that is distinctly Asheville. We can’t wait to return in 2022."

Season tickets for the 2022 season will be released this Friday, November 26th at acscmerch.com

Founded in 2016, ACSC was created as a way to help local players pursue their dreams and grow the game while using soccer as a way to give back to the community.

Asheville City’s women’s and men’s teams will return to play in the summer of 2022. For more information about the upcoming season visit www.ashevillecitysc.com and @ashevillecitysc on social media.
