Asheville City Soccer Club will host the Charlotte Eagles this Friday, July 9 for their final home game of the season. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.

The Boys in Blue have one of the best home records in the league with just one home defeat. In total, ACSC owns a 3-6-2 record in their first season of USL2 play.

Jamie Smith, a fan favorite and three-year starter for Asheville City, prepares to play in front of the ACSC fans for the final time. To Smith, the fans have been an integral part of his experience playing for the Blues.

“It’s going to be tough to say goodbye to so many familiar faces,” Smith said. “I can’t thank the fans enough, they really create an atmosphere that is special and has been part of the reason I’ve wanted to return every summer.”

Building relationships with fans is something that Smith values deeply when it comes to ACSC. He knows that this intense support is uncommon when you look at other soccer teams in the area.

“Our support is far and beyond anyone at a similar level. To have that consistency and build relationships with those fans that you can go and grab a drink with after the game is amazing,” Smith said.

Not only has Asheville City helped Smith on the field, but has also developed him as a person off the field.

“From year one I was just a young guy enjoying the taste of summer league, to now a man who has grown as a player, built a real connection with the people of ACSC and a club that I’ll support forever,” Smith said.

Smith and company will host rival Charlotte Eagles after a chippy contest between the two sides earlier in the season. The Eagles won the previous fixture 1-0 against the run of play.

Tickets for Friday's home finale are still available. While they are in short supply, tickets can be bought here.

Stadium gates for the game open at 6:30 p.m. A livestream will be available via Youtube for those who cannot support the Blues in person.

Per UNCA policy, masks are no longer required for vaccinated individuals. Full facility guidelines can be found at http://ashevillecitysc.com/gameday.
