ACSC Women and Men Face Charlotte Eagles in an Away Double Header

Both Asheville City’s women’s and men’s teams will travel to the Matthews Sportsplex to face the Eagles on Wednesday, June 16th. Kick-off for the women’s game is slated for 5:30pm followed by the men’s game at 8:00pm. 

The women’s Charlotte Eagles team is ranked first in their division with a 4-0 record. Most recently the Eagles earned a 4-1 win against Independence Central. Featured players for the Eagles include Ashlynn Serepca, Katherine Colvin, and Mackenzie Smith who all scored in the Eagles last game. 

Meanwhile, 2-0 Asheville City is ranked second in the division. A win is critical to keeping pace with the Eagles. The Blues are coming off an incredible 2-1 comeback win against WFC of Charlotte. Molly Dwyer and Gillian Oyos both scored goals in the second half to lead the ladies to victory. 

The boys in Blue face the Charlotte Eagles for the first time this season. Asheville City is coming off 45 minutes of playing time before getting rained-out against the Dalton Red Wolves on Saturday. 

The Charlotte Eagles men’s team are ranked sixth in the division with a 2-2-3 record. Leading the Eagles in goals is Lander University midfielder Tom Marriot. He has four goals so far this season. Another key player is Soren Nygaard of Wingate University who has two assists. 

Asheville City is 3-1-2 ranked fourth in their division. The Blues hope to continue their push for a playoff position on Wednesday night. Leading the team in goals is Jack Stainrod with four this season. Ross Fitzpatrick leads the team in assists with three this season. Young goalkeeper Will Watson has solidified his place between the posts for the Blues.
