ACSC to reclaim second place in division with a win.

Asheville City Soccer Club will host Charlotte Independence 2 this Tuesday, June 1 at Greenwood Field in on the campus of UNC Asheville. The game will kick off at 7:30p.m. EST.

The visitors are ranked fifth in the Deep South Division of the Southern Conference of the USL2 with a 1-2-1 record. Independence 2 travel to Asheville after a defensive battle against the SC United Bantams in an all-nil draw.

Chase Gilley, of UNC Greensboro, leads the Independence with three goals so far this campaign. Other players to watch include Ryan Baer and Ethan Stevenson with one goal each this season.

Meanwhile, Asheville City are coming off a blowout win against over East Atlanta. Despite the steaming temperatures in Georgia, the Blues sweated towards a 4-0 win thanks to four separate goal scorers. Nathan Watt, Micheal Wilkerson, Zack Aversano, and Joseph LaCasto all found the back of the net for their first goals of the season.

At the same time, goalie Will Watson and the ACSC backline held steady for their second clean sheet in as many games. All this coming within a week of Watson's graduation from Carolina Day School.

The big win saw the Blues jump into second place within the division table. Since then, SC United Bantams have taken ahold of that position second place after a 2-1 win over the Dalton Red Wolves over the weekend. A win for ACSC will move the Blues back into sole possession of second place with nine points, three points removed from division leaders Southern Georgia Tormenta 2.

Stadium gates for the sold out affair open at 6:30 p.m. No tickets are available for purchase at the gate. A livestream will be available via Youtube for those who cannot support the Blues in person.

Masks are no longer required for vaccinated indivuduals. Full facility guidelines cane be found at http://ashevillecitysc.com/gameday.
