A Statement on the 2021 Season

This past year has been a challenge for us all. We’ve sincerely missed the celebrations of the game and our community that ACSC home matches provide. At the same time, we’ve been inspired by the resilience and perseverance of this community and reminded that heroes live amongst us in our homes and places of work. We intend to model this example in the work we do at the club everyday.

We continue to monitor the pandemic and its potential impact on the upcoming season diligently. We intend to play in 2021. Although we are excited to get back on the field, we know that we will still contend with short term challenges. Memorial Stadium will not be available for our use. We’ve entered into an agreement with UNC Asheville to play our games at Greenwood Field provided that the circumstances allow for it. We are so grateful for their partnership in these challenging times and thank them for their commitment to the club. Unfortunately, we do not have information to share around tickets or attendance at this time. We are hopeful that we’ll be able to share the ACSC experience with you in person this summer, but we will only do so in accordance with federal, state, local, and university guidelines.

In addition, we’ve made the decision not to conduct our customary open tryouts in the current environment. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to hold tryouts later in the spring should the conditions improve. In the meantime, if you are interested in playing for Asheville City this season we invite you to send your information and any footage that you can provide to management@ashevillecitysc.com. Our coaching staffs are working now to build teams capable of winning championships. If you are interested in our no-cost Academy program, you can find information and register your interest on our website.

Our priority is the safety of our players, staffs, and supporters. Our commitment to you is to do everything within our ability to return to the field this season, knowing that will require flexibility and creativity in a complex and changing world. We can’t adequately express how much we appreciate your understanding and continued support. It’s why we push forward. Thank you.
